Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Her Story
Evelyn Pearl Floyd- Chester was born in the 1930's to God-fearing Christian parents in a small town in Alabama.
Although they were below the Federal income poverty-line, their
home was filled with love, Christian values, and high morals.
God blessed Evelyn with a full scholarship to The "Lincoln School for Nurses" which was a historical training school
for African American women nurses, founded in 1898 as a training school, and later becoming
the Lincoln School for Nurses in 1902, which was one of the
first nursing schools for black women in the United States.
Upon Graduation, Evelyn Pearl Floyd-Chester began her career endeavors in New York City Hospital and
successfully retired from their health and human services hospital system.
E P Chester Foundation, established in 2022, has financial supported underserved, underrepresented women who are enrolled in college majoring in Nursing pursuant to a degree.
